Terragard dust suppressant for mine haul roads, coal stockpiles, and conveyors, with product selection, field trials, dosing guidance, and monitoring.

Dust Suppressant for Mining | Terragard Beta Pramesti

Terragard is PT Beta Pramesti Asia’s dust suppressant range for mine haul roads, coal stockpiles, conveyor transfer points, crushers, and industrial sites. Product selection follows the dust source, material, traffic, weather, water quality, application method, and the site’s measurable control target.

Select a dust suppressant for the dust source and application method

A dust suppressant must address the correct release mechanism. Road dust calls for wetting and moisture retention at the running surface, while coal dust at a transfer point or stockpile calls for application that reaches the particles and material surface. A useful baseline records dust, water volume, watering frequency, road or material condition, weather, and spray locations. Terragard ST 700 is intended for coal on conveyors and stockpiles; STR 750 and STR 754 are intended for roads and dusty surfaces. The product-sheet concentrations below are starting points: a field trial must still establish the appropriate dose, coverage, and application interval. The NIOSH 2021 coal-mine dust-control guidance also treats suppression as one part of engineering controls, maintenance, and exposure monitoring—not a replacement for the complete dust-control program.

Target Applications

  • Dust suppressant programs for hauling roads and mine roads.
  • Coal dust suppressant for conveyor transfer points and coal stockpiles.
  • Dust control around crushers, loading areas, and material handling systems.
  • Measured water-volume or watering-frequency reduction against a water-only baseline.
  • Chemical dust control programs for dusty industrial areas.

TERRAGARD ST 700

Coal Dust Control

TERRAGARD ST 700 is an emulsion for coal-dust suppression at conveyor transfer points and stockpiles. Its initial dose follows the product sheet and is then adjusted from trial observations of wetting, material condition, wind, and application-point performance.

Key Advantages

  • Applies to conveyor transfer points and coal stockpiles.
  • Provides a preliminary dilution range for field-trial planning.
  • Uses an emulsion to help the solution reach and retain particles on the material.
  • Supplied in 200-liter PE drums for industrial programs.

How the Product Works

TERRAGARD ST 700 is applied as a solution to help wet fine particles and retain them on the material surface. Actual performance depends on spray distribution, coal characteristics, initial moisture, material flow, wind, and the application interval.

TERRAGARD STR 750

Road Dust Control

TERRAGARD STR 750 is a dispersion containing synthetic polymer resins, wetting agents and additives suspended in water. It is designed to accelerate water penetration and improve water retention on the road surface. The most common use of TERRAGARD STR 750 is as a dust suppression agent on roads. Repeated applications can reduce the amount of water required for dust suppression, maintaining subsoil moisture content for extended periods of time depending on soil type, traffic and weather conditions.

Key Advantages

  • Supports measured water-demand reduction against the watering baseline.
  • Maintains subsoil moisture longer with repeated applications.
  • Increases water penetration into the road surface for more effective dust suppression.
  • Easily applied directly from a water tank at recommended concentrations.

Preliminary dilution is 0.1-0.3% in water, with a maximum recommended coverage of 1-2 liters of solution per square meter for each watering.Store in closed HDPE packaging. Exposure to hot, dry air can form a skin on the concentrate. Read the current label and Safety Data Sheet before using or storing the product.25-, 200-, or 1,000-liter HDPE containers

How the Product Works

TERRAGARD STR 750 works by lowering the surface tension of water, allowing better penetration into the soil and more effective suppression of dust particles. The product is applied by direct watering to roads and dusty areas, where wetting agents help the water to penetrate the road surface faster. Once absorbed, TERRAGARD STR 750 forms a layer that keeps the soil moist for longer and keeps dust particles from flying back.

TERRAGARD STR 754

Road Dust Control

TERRAGARD STR 754 is a dispersion containing synthetic polymer resins, wetting agents and additives suspended in water. The wetting agent is designed to accelerate water penetration and improve water retention on the road surface. The most common use of TERRAGARD STR 754 is as a dust suppression agent. When properly applied, this product allows a reduction in the amount of water required for dust suppression. Repeated applications have a cumulative effect, maintaining subsoil moisture for longer periods of time, depending on soil type, traffic and weather conditions.

Key Advantages

  • Supports measured water-demand reduction against the watering baseline.
  • Maintains subsoil moisture for longer periods.
  • Increases water retention on the road surface for more effective dust suppression.
  • Can be applied by water truck and assessed under the site’s weather conditions.

How the Product Works

TERRAGARD STR 754 lowers water surface tension so the solution can penetrate the road surface and reach dust particles. After application, it helps retain moisture below the surface. Traffic and weather conditions must still inform the application interval.

Run a dust suppressant field trial with a valid comparison

A useful trial compares a control segment and a treated segment under similar weather and traffic. Record the baseline before application so the decision does not rest on a single visual observation.

  1. Define the test area, road or material condition, water volume, watering frequency, and dust-monitoring method.
  2. Check mixing-water quality, dosing calibration, nozzle condition, spray coverage, drainage, and road traction.
  3. Apply the product-sheet starting concentration and record weather, vehicle count, solution volume, and application time.
  4. Compare dust at consistent locations, rewatering demand, surface condition, water use, and any effect on material or process.
  5. Adjust concentration and interval in controlled steps; use the current SDS, site risk assessment, and project HSE approval before full implementation.

Data needed for a dust suppressant quotation

Provide the material type, site photos and area, haul-road length and width, vehicles per hour, surface condition, water source and quality, water-truck capacity, watering frequency, transfer points, weather, monitoring target, and delivery location. These inputs help PT Beta Pramesti Asia select a product, estimate preliminary demand, and define a measurable trial.

Dust suppressant questions

Does a dust suppressant replace every dust control?

No. A suppressant is one engineering control. Ventilation or enclosure, housekeeping, nozzle maintenance, operator cabs, dust monitoring, and personal protection still need assessment against the work risk.

Which Terragard product is used on mine haul roads?

TERRAGARD STR 750 or STR 754 can be an initial candidate. Final selection follows road material, traffic, climate, water quality, mixing method, traction requirements, and field-trial results.

How is chemical dust suppressant demand calculated?

Start with area or material tonnage, solution coverage, preliminary concentration, application frequency, and program duration. Use the product-sheet figures as the trial basis, then recalculate from actual consumption and the interval that achieves the control target.

What should a site monitor after application?

Monitor dust at fixed locations, water use, watering frequency, surface condition, traction, carryback, corrosion or material compatibility, nozzle condition, and operator feedback. A pretreatment baseline is necessary to assess change.
